Design and development of a novel tunable electrorheological fluid (ERF) damper-foundation to attenuate residual vibrations in machine tools

چکیده
Residual vibrations in machine tools hamper accuracy and productivity. The attenuation of residual has been an industrial concern for decades. Meanwhile, the vibrations' vibration pattern reveals that support foundation's damping capabilities predominantly influence them. Therefore, inserting dampers any other location on a tool (such as column) is ineffective. Hence, scope damper into foundation needs to be verified. However, conventional mounting systems (concrete rubber mounts) equally respond all variable inputs. Both these flocks resulted inadequate dampening perhaps poor accuracy. This paper provides first-generation model semiactive-viscous (ERF damper-foundation) with tunable facilitating installation. Controlled experimentation by exposing developed excitations medium duty lathe confirms its effectiveness obtains over 48% compared concrete foundation.

Electrorheological (ER) materials are suspensions of micron sized particles in insulating, dielectric fluids. The mechanical properties of these materials can be controlled by regulating an electric field through them. Variable properties include stiffness, damping, and yielding behavior. At high electric fields, material property changes are rapid and immediately reversible. ER technology has ...

In this paper, a rectangular sandwich plate with a constrained layer and an electrorheological (ER) fluid core is investigated. The rectangular plate is covered an ER fluid core and a constraining layer to improve the stability of the system. The two outer layers of the sandwich structure are elastic. The viscoelastic materials express the middle layer behavior under electric field and small st...
متن کاملCharacterization and Testing of an Electrorheological Fluid Valve for Control of ERF Actuators
Previous studies of electrorheological fluids (ERFs) were motivated by brake, clutch, damping, haptic and resistive applications, but never motivated towards developing an ERF based-hydraulic rotary actuator. One design to make such an actuator is to use ERF-based valves. To fully understand the performance of such an actuator, it is imperative to study ERF valves. For this reason, this paper p...
